The Botanist

Repositioned a heritage spirits brand into a cohesive digital commerce ecosystem.

Challenge

The Botanist is a high end gin distilled on the Isle of Islay, crafted from 22 hand foraged botanicals native to the island. The brand is rooted in landscape, process, and provenance.

The challenge was to translate that depth into a modern digital platform. The site needed to feel refined without becoming sterile. It had to communicate craftsmanship while supporting storytelling, commerce, and brand discovery.

Beyond aesthetics, the platform needed to function as a cohesive ecosystem. Education, product exploration, cocktail content, sustainability messaging, and e commerce all had to work together seamlessly.

Approach

We began with Brand Strategy to clarify positioning and define the narrative architecture behind the product. The focus was on landscape, craft, and the idea of wild complexity.

From there, we structured the digital platform around clarity and flow. Navigation, content hierarchy, and storytelling were intentionally designed to guide users from discovery to engagement without friction.

Every design decision reinforced the brand’s tone. Refined typography, controlled whitespace, and immersive photography worked together to express craftsmanship while maintaining modern restraint.

Solution

The result was a fully integrated digital platform that unified storytelling, education, and e commerce into one cohesive experience.

The information architecture was simplified to reduce friction while preserving depth. Users can explore the product, learn its origins, and move toward purchase without disruption.

Across desktop and mobile, the platform balances elegance with performance, aligning brand, experience, and growth into a single system.
